An entity is a thing that exists in the world. People use it for a person, a company, a creature, or any distinct object they want to talk about. It is a broad, neutral word for something that stands on its own.

Use one of these only when the conversation is already in that field.

  Read it as: "Create a customer profile with name, contact info, and purchase history."
- "The main entity is fairness."
  They mean: Fairness is the central subject or thing being discussed.
  Avoid: fail to tag it in NER, or reject it because fairness is not a named proper noun.
  Read it as: "The central concept being discussed is fairness."
- "Remove that entity."
  They mean: Delete that thing or entry.
  Avoid: execute a SQL DELETE on a table row, or remove an XML node, without confirming scope.
  Read it as: "Delete that entry from the list, not from any database."
